Comments Running the old stomping grounds in Richmond. Big Loop from Johns place. Started off easy with the out of shape kenyan only to pick up and start rolling after he was done. Legs were heavy but good to be back on the trails.

Comments Humid morning in Richmond. Warmed-up with Joey. Almost didnt list this as a race because it was more of a tempo effort. From the starting line there were only 4 of us who would be going for the win. Decided about 2-3 miles out that this would be a slow race and just kept a tempo effort with Joey. 2 leaders wanted to fight for first about 30 45 secs up on us. we just chilled at 5:30 pace and talked about who should get 3rd place award. Joey wasn't concerned with the prize so I took it with a nice little pickup in the last 600 meters. Took home a brand new pair of pegs and a pretty nice duffel bag.

Comments Drove down to Browns Island in Richmond for the James River Scramble 10K trail race. I won this last year when there was no prize money or official course markers. This year they are offering 500$ for the winner so every elite runner in Richmond is trying their first trail race today. Warmed up, was feeling really good, ran some strides. Thought there might be an offset chance at 3rd place and 100$ despite the 4 other guys I knew were faster than me, but the trails are a whole new game. Sadly just 2 minutes before the race was to start, it was canceled due to severe weather rolling in. Ran back to the bag check got my stuff and sprinted back to my truck before the hail and torrential rain started to fall. That was it for today.
