Tue April 8th - Steady State Run - 12.5mi
Time of day 8:15 PM
Distance 11.00 mi
Shoe Grid Type A5
Distance WU/CD 1.50 mi
Comments River loop + 2 mi out and back. Warmed up for 1 mile at 7:00 even. Wind was hitting hard from north to south but figured I would push hard going out into the wind, relax with the wind on my back, and loop back around to fight the wind again to focus on holding form in discomfort. This made miles 1-4 and 7-9.5 quite tough and the inbetween miles not so much. Went out hitting low 5:50s into the wind before crossing the river. Settled in at 5:55s for most of the way. Naturally picked up pace by the museum. was only planning on 10 but came through comfortably under 59 so decided to add on a bonus mile. Closed out in sub 5:40. Tried to get my body into marathon mode to get a final gauge on where Im currently fitness wise. I can say with confidence I can make it to 20 at low 5:50 pace, however, its that final 10K that makes the difference.
