Comments River Loop. Barely ran ate or slept the last few days in the Bronx. Drove back to Philly last night, made the run a priority this morning. Back up to the Bronx in a couple days to do it all over again.

Comments Abbreviated long run. Woke up again with horrible stomach pains. Stayed in bed until about noon to try and sleep it off. Went to the studio to try and finish up commission projects with rapidly approaching deadlines. This entailed sanding various toxic particles which didnt quite help my symptoms despite the respirator. Forced some food in me and made it out for the long run. I needed one more longer effort before the upcoming marathon. Felt decent, but I was more excited to get the fresh air. Time to get in some serious rest and recovery. Hopefully I will be able to find some while working in NY the next couple weeks.

Comments Stomach pains, flu-like symptoms. This is what I get for racing in a thunderstorm, then pulling a 4am trip to the Bronx to work on a public commission in a pigeon infested alleyway. Body is wrecked, barely stopped working to eat. Drove home later that night. I need to take better care of myself in the next few weeks.

Comments BMRC summer series #3. Near perfect weather in the lower 70s tonight. Plenty of guys from the BMRC racing team showed up today, so I was hoping to be pulled along for a fast time. It seems that whenever it comes time to run a fast time, I am stuck working extra long hours in the studio and struggling to get in the proper recovery. Nonetheless with perfect conditions I figured anything was possible. Warmed up for 4 miles with strides to try and get really warm, got my legs feeling decent and ready to roll. Gun went off and the top 15 took off hard the first 800. I was way back, but hoping I would be reeling in at least half this pack by mile 2. I felt like I was rolling low 5s but was surprised when I hit the first mile in 5:10 even. It seemed Like I was being aggressive but apparently not. Pushed the second mile hard and picked off a couple of runners. Mid way through mile two the sky opened up with torrential downpour and thunderstorm, hard winds crossing the roads. Continued to pick off runners, coming through in 5:17 for mile 2. Even more surprised since I really thought I was moving faster. Held my place running what seemed like a 3" deep river stream, before getting one last runner, crossing mile 3 in 5:18. An even bigger surprised since I felt like I took my foot off the gas for the closer. Strange race, but great to put forth a hard effort in the thunderstorm. Came home in 10th place.
